A Celebration, A Ceremony, A Festival: Melbourne’s Buddha’s Day Returns
The Buddha’s Day & Multicultural Festival lit up Golden Square again with three days of arts, culture, music, mindfulness, and community celebration in May 2025.
Presented by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and Buddha’s Light International Association of Victoria (BLIAV), the free event welcomed all ages and backgrounds to enjoy cultural performances, Buddhist ceremonies, workshops, and family-friendly activities. Highlights included the Light It Up Opening Ceremony on Friday night, featuring dignitaries, performances, and a spectacular light projection that brings the iconic five-storey Bodhi Tree mural at Golden Square Open-Air to life, with bold and expanded visuals, surpassing its dazzling 2022 debut.
Across the weekend, visitors joined meditation sessions, tea ceremonies, calligraphy workshops, children’s storytelling, puppet shows, and more — all celebrating diversity, harmony, and compassion.
The Buddha’s Day & Multicultural Festival continues to be a powerful platform for cultural exchange and spiritual reflection, uniting communities through shared values and joyful, inclusive experiences.
